Description

Designed for wagon builders who do not wish to involve themselves with chassis design and manufacture, this precision engineered chassis epitomises strength and rigidity.

A design, unique to our company, this chassis ensures tractive and compressive forces are transferred via the couplings through the chassis.

The curled spoke wheels are both for appearance and technical purposes, as they are able to withstand greater shock loads than conventional spokes.

There are M12 and M6 threaded holes provided in strategic locations on the chassis plate enabling wagon builders to secure a wide variety of their own body designs with ease.

The black anodised aluminium baseplate can be relied upon for strength, and rigidity when fully loaded with weights of up to 200kg.

Also our own design, is the suspension system with fine quality, sealed for life bearings mounted in the axle boxes.

Moving parts are enclosed against ingress of dirt.

The buffers are centrally mounted and spring loaded in both directions, allowing for smooth, shock resistant shunting operations.

The ball valve oilers have been positioned to ensure moving parts can be lubricated as required.

Technical Description Summary
Chassis Wheels Brakes

With a baseplate manufactured from black anodised aluminium, the design of our chassis is unique to our company. This design ensures that all tractive and compressive forces are transferred via the couplings and through the chassis.

Each chassis is identified with a unique serial number, laser engraved on an enamelled plate. This plate is mounted on the brake pivot block.

We use only the finest quality bearings on our rolling stock with each being mounted in an axle box which contains our unique suspension system. All moving parts are enclosed against ingress of dirt or debris. All axle boxes are also fitted with a gold plated and enamelled manufacturer's plate.

Buffers are centrally mounted and spring loaded in both directions for smooth, shock resistant shunting operations. Again, the mechanism is fully enclosed.

Coupling links are provided for both ends of every wagon. These are secured with spring loaded pins. These pins click positively into place providing reassurance that wagons cannot be uncoupled by vibration or impact.

Strategically positioned ball valve oilers ensure moving parts can be lubricated as required.

Weighing 42kg and certified to carry loads of up to 200kg, our chassis design will exceed expectations.

All our wheels have curled spokes, that are more flexible and able to withstand shock loading and are machined from solid billets of heat treated high tensile steel. They are secured to axles, conforming to 7¼" Gauge Society wheel standards.

The wheels are pressed on to the axles with an interference fit and locked in place by our own unique design feature which guarantees there is no possibility of the wheels moving axially to cause a gauge error.

With safety at the forefront of our design, our braking system is a manually operated, spring loaded fail safe system. By default, the brakes are applied, until they are disengaged by the operator. The brake lever can be struck from the side to apply the brakes in case of an emergency.

The brake calipers automatically compensate for changes in height of the suspension due to wagon loading, ensuring maximum surface contact for braking.

Our braking system is therefore independent of locomotive air or hydraulic braking actuation.

The brakes are applied and released with ease, by hand or by foot.
