Description
Wheels and axles: . All our wheels have curled spokes and are machined from solid billets of heat treated high tensile steel.
They are secured to the axles that are also made of heat treated high tensile steel. . This steel was specifically chosen for it's superior performance,corrosion resistance and ability to withstand stressful conditions. ..
These assemblies conform to the UK 7¼" Gauge Society wheel standards. . However we can design and manufacture to alternative gauge requirements upon request, if so, please send us an enquiry using our contact us page and we will be happy to help..
The wheels are pressed on to the axles with an interference fit and locked in place by our own unique design feature of swage-locking, which guarantees there being no possibility of the wheels moving axially to cause a gauge error.
Our concentricity tolerances are extremely tight (within 0.0005"/.012mm)
, this minimises vibration and therefore wear and maintenance on all components.
Axle Boxes: . . Each axle box is made up of a number of precision components.
The body is machined from an aluminium billet, black anodised for both appearance and for corrosion resistance..
The fully sealed integral suspension within each axle box ensures smooth riding characteristics and is enclosed against ingress of dirt. .
Periodic lubrication can be applied easily via the ball spring oiler on the outboard face above the maker's plates, this position negates the need for tipping or lifting the rolling stock.

When attaching, the axle boxes can be secured to your chassis both vertically and horizontally for extra rigidity using M8 screws.
